TvZ – How to combat Zerg as a Terran player

This strat is via my buddy kfishy, a Platinum Zerg player.  I have used it and am undefeated with it thus far.

As a Terran player, what you want to do is shut down Zerg early. Really, this is the goal no matter what race you are. Zerg becomes a powerful force if allowed to turtle and build up. Their production of combat units can easly out produce Terran 3 to 1. The proper  way to shut down Zerg is simple but requires good timing.

Start out with a typical build;

-Never stop building SCVs

-build supply depot at 9/11build barracks as soon as you attain 150 minerals – upgrade your command center to orbital command once barracks is done and you have attained enough minerals to do so

-build your refinary once you have 75 mins

-build 2nd supply depot once you have 100 mins

-build 2nd barracks with addon so you can build 2 marines at once – pump marines

-build factory, addon so you can research seige and build tanks

-as soon as you have 1 tank, start your push to the enemy’s base

-by the time you get to the enemy’s base you should have 2-3 tanks

Move into the enemies base and begin blasting the Zerg with your tanks. Your tanks should be doing most of the work here, taking out spine crawlers, roaches, or lings while in siege mode. Your massive amount of marines are primarily there for support and anti air. Marines should stop any advance by lings to take out the tanks. At this point, continue to pump SCVs, marines from 2 barracks and tanks. If this doesn’t look like it will work for you, you should be expanding during your push so that you can move to a strategy of your choice (MMM, Mech, or Thor). Remember this always – the best time to expand, and the safest, is while you are on the offensive.
